Who we are
We grew up with the same mom and dad (we double-checked), but with 14 years between us, we experienced family life from totally different angles. Drew got the “full house” version — parents, siblings, the works. Leighton’s childhood, on the other hand, looked a lot different. He spent his preteen and teen years watching our mom battle cancer and then navigate life without her, while his older siblings drifted in and out. Same family — very different chapters.
That difference became the foundation of our relationship and, ultimately, this podcast.
Later in life, we both hit our own rough patches — chronic pain, addiction, depression, suicidal ideations, failed relationships — you name it. But somewhere in the middle of all that, we found each other again. What started as mutual support became a shared journey of rebuilding our lives through health, fitness, and mountain biking.
Our real turning point came when the family decided to plan a reunion. Those always bring up emotions — especially without Mom — but it also became the spark for our accountability. We picked a location loaded with Pacific Northwest trails (because, priorities). Then our brother-in-law Eric, an avid road cyclist, wanted to join us. We knew he’d crush us on the trails, and that simply could not stand.
Out of that very real fear, our training journey began. Six months of daily texts, early workouts, quitting alcohol, choosing health — and a ton of friendly trash talk. Eric still beat us, but barely and we had a blast. The trip was a success, and something bigger was born: consistency, accountability, and a brotherhood that was stronger than ever.
From there, we kept going — Drew in his home gym, Leighton in CrossFit — and our transformation wasn’t just physical. It became mental and spiritual too.
A few years later, the idea for a podcast popped up. We hesitated at first — we’re not “perfect examples” or finished products, nor do we live in the same state — but that’s exactly the point. We’re not leading from a place of arrival or perfect situations, but from the middle of the journey. Our podcast is about the process — body, mind, and spirit — and inviting others to come along for the ride.
We’ve both faced our own battles and injuries and learned what works (and what doesn’t). Now, we want to share those lessons, help others break free from what’s holding them back, and remind everyone that it’s never too late to change.
As for the future? Who knows exactly — but what we know is it involves 2 vans, road trips, epic rides, and gatherings.
